To the Editor:
It seems like the three cornerstones of our nation – faith, family and friends – are being lost in today’s “politically correct” culture.
When we were kids growing up in Warwick, families had to work hard. We took no vacations and many of our parents worked in stressful and even dangerous jobs. The hours were long, but our parents always found time for family, faith and friends! It’s not always easy to maintain these three very important qualities. Every person at some time will face unexpected challenges in life, like sickness, loss of a job and death. But with family, faith in God and determination, you can still achieve “true” happiness.
I’ve witnessed the sacrifices of so many wonderful parents who experienced serious injury, sickness and separation, but never, ever gave up on themselves or placing their trust in God. You won’t hear this from mainstream media, Hollywood or politicians, but trust me; it’s your key to a happy future. Remember, in life it’s not where you’ve been; it’s about where you’re going.
America needs more informed and dedicated citizens who value the three F’s. And remember, they will start learning these lessons in their homes from parents, in good schools from their teachers and friends, with the help of God.

Great letter Mr. Walsh. Unfortunately, G_d is being outsourced to distractions such as the internet (porn), facebook, snapchat, etc. I'm afraid that we've come to a place in time wherein not many people want for anything so G-d is not needed. Remember, the poor are always closer to Him. When we live in a society where people spend 6-8 hrs a day on an electronic device and spend less than a few minutes a day in prayer and don't even attend church.

Dear Davebarry109,
You're right. People spend entirely too much time on their electronics and not enough time "in person", like in church, in a playground or even in the backyard. God is "outsourced" as you say entirely too often, but He is everywhere so when I went to the car show last night at Oakland Beach I looked out over the Bay and He was there. Just keep reminding people to keep looking, and not necessarily just in church! You said "not many people want for anything so God is not needed". We both know how untrue that is. We just have to keep reminding others.
I'll do my share. You do yours and hopefully anyone reading this will join in.
