Fire chief, 11 other promotions set for ceremony tomorrow

Mayor Scott Avedisian will join the Board of Public Safety and Fire Department officials at a ceremony tomorrow night to recognize the promotion of the Fire Chief, Assistant Chief and 10 other firefighters. The event begins at 6 p.m. in City Hall Council Chambers, 3275 Post Road. 

James G. McLaughlin will take the oath as Chief. David E. Morse will be sworn in as Assistant Chief.

Richard J. Bellevance will be sworn in as Battalion Chief. Keith R. Brown and Marcel R. Fontenault Jr. are being promoted to the rank of Captain. Gerard A. Bogossian will be promoted to Rescue Captain. Willian A. Alsfeld, Scott C. Iamarone, Daniel J. DeRobbio and Christopher W. Albro will be sworn in as Lieutenants.  

Bradford T. Ginaitt and Michael P. Kretchman will take the oath of Rescue Lieutenant.

Additionally, the program will recognize the retirement of Chief Edmund B. Armstrong, Assistant Chief Bruce C. Cooley, Captain Matthew F. McCauley, Rescue Captain Bryan J. Owens, Lieutenant Carl Pecchia and Lieutenant Michael F. Shea.

The program also includes an honor guard and processionals, greetings from Battalion Chief Thomas R. Jessop, an invocation from Father Peter Mongeon, a department chaplain, the singing of the national anthem by Captain William Tyler, greetings from Mayor Avedisian, an address from Chief McLaughlin and benediction by Marciano.

Avedisian will preside over the promotions. The Board of Public Safety includes Chairwoman Leslie Baxter, James Paolucci and Thomas McGovern.
