Firefighters step up to assist Neighbors Helping Neighbors

To the Editor:

In a world where we see and hear so many heartbreaking stories, we would like to take a moment to acknowledge a wonderful act of kindness from our very own Warwick Fire Department.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for your kindness and generosity.  Each year, the City of Warwick’s Department of Human Services works in conjunction with Mayor Avedisian to solicit donations from the community to help put a holiday meal on the tables of so many families who may otherwise go without.  This program is Neighbors Helping Neighbors, which started more than 25 years ago.

In a year where donations were rolling in slowly, the Warwick Fire Department, as they have done every year, reached into their own pockets and took up a personal collection totaling $1,880! Thank you!  You have no idea how much this helps those in need in our community. You are an amazing group of people!  Not only do you put your lives on the line on each and every day to protect our community, but you are always there to help when someone is in need.

We would also like to acknowledge all who have contributed to Neighbors Helping Neighbors!  Thank you…This program could not happen without the support and generosity of this amazing community that we are proud to call home!
