Sunny skies and warm weather greeted the first opening day ceremonies of the spring sports season on Saturday morning. Apponaug Babe Ruth League and St. Gregory’s Baseball and Softball League kicked things off with the usual pomp and circumstance, while Warwick Fire Fighters Soccer Club and Warwick Soccer Association got their spring recreational seasons underway. Warwick’s four Little Leagues and Apponaug Girls Softball will have their ceremonies over the next two weeks. Pictured above, Mayor Scott Avedisian throws out a ceremonial first pitch at Apponaug Babe Ruth’s opening day.
