First-place Lions top Pats

Coming off a split of two matches on Wednesday, the Pilgrim wrestling team hosted division leader Lincoln on Thursday night and battled before falling 54-27. The Pats are now 3-4 in league matches.

Pilgrim picked up pins from Jordan DeSisto, Mark Lenz and Gage Potter, as well as a victory at 138 from Steven Johnson. Nathan Brice also won by forfeit at 182, but the Lions didn’t give up much else. Lincoln won nine of the 14 matches and improved to 5-1 on the season.

The Pats will have three more matches this week, with a home tilt against Hope set for Wednesday at 7 p.m. and a tri-match against PCD and Smithfield scheduled for Thursday at 5:30 p.m. On Monday at 10 a.m., Pilgrim will host the Warwick City Championship.
