Florence M. (Berrigan) Sweet, age 101, formerly of Warwick, died on February 13, 2013 at Evergreen House Health Center in East Providence. She was the wife of the late Hobert E. Sweet, Jr.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late John T. and Annie M. (Donnelly) Berrigan, she was a Warwick resident for most of her life. She lived in Florida from 1978 - 1987, and in Pennsylvania for the past six years. Mrs. Sweet was employed as a bookkeeper at the former Shepard Co. in Providence for fifteen years. She was an avid bridge and scrabble player, and enjoyed gardening. She was a former member of St. Benedict Circle Daughters of Isabella in Warwick.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Lou Freitas and her husband, James of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and Maureen Samways and her husband, Peter of Portsmouth, a son, Daniel E. Sweet and his wife, Deborah of Warwick, a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Sweet of Sarasota Springs, New York; twelve grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late James H. Sweet; and the sister of the late John, Edmund, James, Daniel, Joseph, and Mary Berrigan.
Her funeral was held on Monday, February 18, from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Timothy Church, 1799 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Burial was private.
