Florence R. (Sharples) Patenaude. The children of Florence Rita Patenaude regret to announce her death on May 23, 2015, only six days prior to her 92nd birthday. Florence was the wife of the late Charles Richard Patenaude who preceded her in death on December 10, 1983.

The daughter of the late Arthur P. and Celia (Pidgeon) Sharples, she was born on May 29, 1923 in Warwick, RI. Florence was proud of her genealogy. She was a direct descendent of Roger Williams, the founder of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations and a lifetime member of the Roger Williams Family Association. She was also a decedent of Francis Budlong, an original settler of the City of Warwick, RI. Florence resided in Warwick for most of her life, until 2013 when she moved to the New England Bay in Coventry. She worked for many years at the RI Medical Center as a Medical Records Technician until 1983 when she and her husband retired.

She was the sister of the late Francis J. Sharples. Florence is survived by her daughters: Francine Marie Doyle of RI and Florida, Denise Jeanne Williams of Coventry, Michele Rose Patenaude of Burlington, Vermont and her son, Charles Richard Patenaude, Jr. of New London, Connecticut; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 10 a.m. in St. William Church, 200 Pettaconset Ave., Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Ave., Warwick (Exit 12-A off I-95) on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 from 5 P.M.-8 P.M. Burial will take place in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
