The Pilgrim volleyball team lost some top-notch talent from last year, but so far this season, it doesn’t look like the Pats have missed a beat.

On the strength of big nights by Christian White and Sean St. Jacques, the Pats beat perennial contender Exeter/West Greenwich 3-2 on Thursday to improve to 3-0 on the young season.

The Pats had won their first two matches by sweeps, but EWG provided the toughest test yet. The Knights won game one 25-14 but Pilgrim came back to win the next two. After EWG won game three, Pilgrim out-lasted the Knights for a dramatic 23-21 victory in the decisive game five.

The Pats visit 2-1 West Warwick tonight at 6 p.m.
