Starzz Entertainment presented its fourth annual “Proud To Be An American” fundraiser for the VA Medical Center’s Voluntary Service program over the weekend at the Triple Crown Room at the West Valley Inn in West Warwick, raising more than $14,000. U.S. Rep. Jim Langevin, Warwick Mayor Scott Avedisian, retired Gen. Reginald Centracchio, Department of Veterans Affairs Director Kasim Yarn, VA Medical Center Director Dr. Susan MacKenzie, and VA Voluntary Services Director Donna Russillo were among those on hand. The Cranston High School East JROTC presented and posted the colors, while the Coventry High School JROTC took part in the opening of the POW/MIA Honor Table. Vocalist Steve Quirini, who runs Starzz along with Lisa D’Ambra, performed at the event, as did well-known doo-wop and oldies group Reminisce. Sponsors provided a range of financial support and items for the evening’s raffle. D’Ambra extended special thanks to Vin and Elly Palumbo, Reminisce, the West Valley Inn staff, and Erin Darden and Godiva Chocolate. (Herald photos)
