Forecast: Snow Queen on center stage tonight

The Winman Junior High School Drama Club couldn’t have chosen a more appropriate play for this time of year.

Tonight at 7 p.m. the club will stage “The Snow Queen and The Goblin,” based on the story by Hans Christian Anderson.

The story centers on the Snow Queen played by Julie Davis who wants to fill her palace with the laughter and songs of children.

To accomplish that, she sends her trusted goblin Acha, played by Brett Bernier, to put his spell on a boy, Kay, played by Isaiah Jackson.

Key to the play is the question is whether anyone can steal happiness.

There appeared to be no lack of that feeling Tuesday during rehearsal. The students were anxious for opening night and the limelight of the stage.

Other players are Lauren Campbell as the grandmother, Cathryn Dewolf as Gerda and Kiley MacAleer and Liz Pauley as the queen’s guards. Alex Guevara is the narrator and Alison Lewis plays the apothecary pharmacist.

Elizabeth Poole, Emily Shea, Christine Pack, Emma Newell, Jenna Carmichael, Cheyenne Meuiner and Emily Edge play the Snow Children.

Tickets are $5 and may be purchased at the door of the Winman auditorium.
