Forum on wind power on Thursday

A Rhode Island Community Forum at URI will be discussing the future of wind energy in Rhode Island on Thursday, Sept. 8 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in Lippitt Hall at University of Rhode Island, Kingston.

Moderated by Rhode Island Public Radio News Director Catherine Welch, the forum will engage experts and community leaders in a discussion about the impact of offshore wind energy on Rhode Island's economy, energy rates and the environment. This forum is free and open to the public.

Panelists are: Former Rhode Island Governor Donald Carcieri;

Jonathan Stone, executive director, Save The Bay; Grover Fugate, executive director, Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council; Jeffrey Grybowski, CAO and senior vice president at Deepwater Wind; Doug Hales, assistant professor, URI College of Business Administration; and Jennifer McCann, of the URI Rhode Island Sea Grant College Program.

The forum will be broadcast live on Block Island at the Block Island School. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions via a two-way video feed.

The forum will also be broadcast on Rhode Island Public Radio on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 1 p.m. on 1290 AM/102.7 FM. For questions about the forum, call (401) 427-4055.
