Frank Lester Earp, 89, passed away October 20, 2011 at Kent Hospital. He was the husband of the late Tina Earp.
Born in Detroit, Mich., he was a son of the late Joseph E. Earp and Mabel Irene Parish. Mr. Earp was an electronic technician at Electric Boat, Groton, Conn. and previously was a small appliance repairman. He was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Army as a medical technician in the 33rd Field Hospital in North Africa and Italy, where he met his beloved wife, Tina, when he asked her if she might sew on a button for him. They married Sept. 30, 1949 at Fort Benning, Ga. and would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in September, but for Tina's death in March 2009.
He is survived by his sister, Lillian Olson of California; his brother, Joseph W. Earp of Florida; his sister-in-law, Anna Manfredi of Torre del Lago, Italia; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Mae Hanna and Cora Stone. He is also survived by his community of friends at Greenwich Farms in Warwick and in his Cranston neighborhood.
Visitation will be held Oct. 25 from 8:15-9:15 a.m. in R.A. Iannotti Funeral Home, 415 Washington St., Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, West Warwick. Interment with military honors will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
