Frederick T. Charlton, age 89, of 1809 Warwick Avenue, Warwick, died on Friday, May 9, 2014 at Kent County Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Dorothy R. (Olson) Charlton for 67 years.

Born at home on Church Avenue in Warwick, a son of the late Nelson T. and Blanche R. (Cournoyer) Charlton, he lived in Warwick for most of his life. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II, and served on the USS Rodman. Mr. Charlton was employed as a foreman at Leesona Corporation in Warwick and North Carolina before retiring. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.

Besides his wife, he is survived by four daughters: Cynthia Valletta of Warwick, Sharon Lee Charlton Dias of West Warwick, Susan Coles of Panora, Iowa, and Deborah DeAngelis of Riverside; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was the father-in-law of Frank Dias, Mark Coles, and Stanley DeAngelis, and the late John Valletta; and the brother of the late Evelyn Franklin, Shirley Gardner, Dorothy Cooper, Alvin Charlton and Nelson “Babe” Charlton.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 14, at 10 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a service at 11 a.m. in Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 1817 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. Burial with military honors will be in Pawtuxet Memorial Park, Warwick.
