Career Pathways for the 21st Century, a free program offering career exploration and skills improvement for adults interested in training in one of the state’s high-demand sectors, will host three sessions this spring including, for the first time, one in Westerly and an evening session in Warwick.

The program, launched in 2010 and offered through the Community College of Rhode Island’s Center for Workforce and Community Education, will be offered on the following dates and times:

6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Feb. 23 to March 24, at the CCRI satellite campus at Westerly High School

6 to 9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, Feb. 29 to March 30, at the CCRI Knight Campus in Warwick

9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, April 11 to June 27, at the CCRI Knight Campus The program focuses on helping people break into high-demand job sectors such as health care, information technology, construction, advanced manufacturing, and hospitality and tourism. The program also helps participants hone their skills in math, reading and writing.

It also will provide work experiences such as job shadows, tours and informational interviews; distance learning opportunities; case management services; and career coaching that includes referral to appropriate training, job search strategies, and development of a long-term career and educational plan.

The program is free to accepted students through funding provided by the Rhode Island Department of Education, and there are no income eligibility requirements. To request more information or register for an information session, contact Career Pathways Coordinator Lynn Watterson at 455-6042 or by email at lpwatterson@ccri.edu.
