The RI Swedish Heritage Association has arranged with Swedgen to provide an all-day workshop designed to assist Rhode Islanders with Swedish ancestry to learn more about their heritage.
Swedgen is a group of four highly skilled Swedish genealogists currently touring the United States for the sole purpose of helping Americans of Swedish descent access available resources to research their Swedish roots. They will offer presentations and demonstrations on how to start Swedish ancestral research, the Swedish Family Tree, Swedish maps and immigration and Rhode Island’s Swedes. Workshops will begin at 1 p.m. and run until 8. The entire workshop is free of charge. The public is cordially invited. It will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at the Cranston Public Library on 140 Sockanosset Cross Road, Cranston.
A very special feature is Swedgen’s offer of individual consultations with Swedgen representatives, which will be provided to the first 24 individuals who register. Registration for one-on-one sessions can be arranged by contacting Swedgen via their website: www.lilleskogen.se/form2.htm.
There is no charge for this individual assistance.
To achieve the best results from the one-on-one sessions, all known birth dates, birthplaces and immigration dates will prove helpful.
