Bishop Hendricken honored deceased alumni, faculty, staff and friends at their annual Mass of Remembrance on Sunday, November 1. The Mass was followed by the dedication of a new Memorial Prayer Garden honoring alumni and faculty who served in the armed forces, especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice protecting our nation: Richard D. McKenzie ’63, Matthew J. August ’93 and Eric P. Valdepenas ’03. The event was spearheaded and organized by Dick August, father of fallen soldier Matt August, and supported by many donors who supported the project through to fruition. The centerpiece of the garden features a statue of Jesus embracing a soldier.
