Gary Hurst

Gary Hurst, 69, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2015 at home.

Born in Providence, he was a son of John A. Hurst and the late Mary E. (Bowering) Hurst. Gary was a welder and heat treater and was employed for the Leesona Corp. and Electric Boat before retiring. Gary was a graduate of Warwick Veterans Memorial High School, Class of 1965. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and served on the USS Randolph. An avid car enthusiast he was a member of the Corvette Club of RI and had restored different cars. He was a member of the Oakland Beach Volunteer Fire Co. and a member of various pool, dart, and bowling leagues. Gary was an avid golfer.

Besides his father, he is survived by two daughters, Michelle Ferri and Wendy Medeiros; two sons, Gary Hurst and Michael Hulton; two brothers, Alan Hurst and John Hurst; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his long-time companion, Doreen Kelly-Anderson. He was the brother of the late Jean Hurst.

His funeral will be held Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 9 a.m. from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Kevin Church, Sandy Lane at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will be in Highland Memorial Park. Visiting hours Monday 5-8 p.m.
