Gas prices down 5 cents from last week

Gasoline prices in Rhode Island have dropped another five cents over the last week, and prices locally are now the lowest recorded by AAA at any time during 2014, according to AAA Southern New England.

AAA’s September 22nd survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $3.43, down five cents from last week. The previous low for the year was $3.44 back on February 3. Prices locally are nine cents lower than a month ago. The current price is nine cents more than the national average for regular unleaded of $3.34. A year ago at this time Rhode Island’s average price was 21 cents higher at $3.64.
