Gas prices up 2 cents, survey finds

Gasoline prices in Rhode Island are up 2 cents from last week, according to AAA Southern New England.

AAA’s Feb. 17 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $3.48 per gallon, up 2 cents from last week. Prices locally are down 2 cents from a month ago. The current price is 12 cents higher than the national average for regular unleaded of $3.36. A year ago at this time, Rhode Island’s average price was 31 cents higher at $3.79.

The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 20 cents, from a low of $3.41 to a high of $3.61. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up – every trip, every time.
