The Gaspee Days Committee installed its new officers and kicked off the 50th anniversary of the Gaspee Days celebration on Sept. 7 at the Pawtuxet Athletic Club. Cranston Mayor Allan Fung swore in the new officers, who include Erin Flynn, president; Jerry Peshka, first vice president; Ryan Giviens, second vice president; Karleen Wrath, recording secretary; Patti Concannon, corresponding secretary; Steve Miller, treasurer; Carol Demming, past president; and directors Tina Bingham, Kristine Huff, Ann-Marie Richards and Eric Poloso. Pat Peshka and Demming, who are chairing the 50th anniversary committee, also took part in a ceremonial ribbon cutting with Flynn, Warwick Mayor Scott Avedisian, Warwick Ward 1 City Councilman Steven Colantuono and state Rep. Joseph McNamara. Mark Russell, a former Gaspee Days president, served as the emcee at Sunday’s gathering. (Beacon photos)
