The Boy Scouts of America Narragansett Council will hold its annual gathering of Eagles event at the Rhode Island State House tomorrow beginning at 6 p.m. The event honors all Scouts who have received the Eagle Scout award throughout the history of the Council, with an emphasis on those who received the award in 2013-2014. This year’s group will be addressed by Governor Lincoln Chafee in recognition of their hard work and accomplishments. Chafee’s father, the late Senator John H. Chafee, was a Scout and Narragansett Council alumnus.
A total of 272 Scouts from the Narragansett Council earned Eagle in the last year, completing 30,228 hours of community service. Eagles attending this year’s event will be accompanied by their families, friends, members of the Narragansett Council staff and board, and local volunteer Scout leaders.
