A fundraiser at Twist Restaurant earlier this month stage by the loved ones of Stephen Marra, a restaurateur who passed away August 2011, raised $5,000 for two local charities. During a recent check presentation at the Grille on Main, Marra’s family and a group of friends awarded the Pawtuxet Valley Homeless Advocacy, as well as the East Greenwich Animal Protection League, $2,500 each on behalf of the Stephen Marra Foundation. Here, Mario Abbondanza, a member of the foundation and a staffer at the Grille, presents a check to Tammy Flanagan of the East Greenwich Animal Protection League. Not shown are Charlie Nault and Ed Congdon of the Pawtuxet Valley Homeless Advocacy. To continue raising funds for local organizations, the Stephan Marra Foundation is planning another event April 25 from 7 to 11 p.m. at Waterplace Restaurant at 1 Finance Way in Providence. It will feature live entertainment, food and drink specials, a raffle and more, with proceeds to benefit AIDS Project Rhode Island supporting Dine Out for Life. Tickets are $25 apiece. For more information, call 272-1040.
