George J. Greene, age 93, of Warwick, died on Sunday, January 10, 2016, at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. He was the husband of the late Isabelle A. (Fagan) Greene.

Born in Providence, a son of the late George V. and Alice V. (Cassidy) Greene, he lived in Warwick since 1961. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran of World War II, and a recipient of the Purple Heart Medal for injuries sustained at Peleliu in the South Pacific. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Greene was an eligibility technician for the RI Department of Social & Rehabilitative Services for 10 years, retiring in the mind 1980’s. He was previously employed by the Department of the Navy at Quonset Point. He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

He is survived by a daughter Patricia, and a son, David, both of Warwick; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a long-time companion, Janet Scott. He was the brother of the late Alice Broudeur, Eileen Camp, Betty O’Brien, Marilyn Ferrucci, Billy Greene, and Joan Greene.
