Gerald C. Baril, 97, of Warwick, RI, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at the Kent Regency Center in Warwick. He was the beloved husband of the late Ruth Kelly Baril for 64 years.

Born on August 15, 1919 in Central Falls, he was the son of the late Raoul and Rosamond Brin Baril. Gerry was an Army veteran of World War II and served four years in the South Pacific islands. He worked for many years in the jewelry business and owned a rooming house in Warwick. He spent much time at Oakland Beach near his home, watching the boats and beachgoers. Gerald enjoyed spending time playing cards with family and friends and spent many a day at the dance halls throughout Rhode Island and Massachusetts – well into his mid-nineties! He was fondly known for his story telling, his mechanical skills and his love of spending time with all of his grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. A resident of Warwick, Gerry previously lived in Cumberland and North Attleboro for many years.

He is survived by his children: Nancy Burns and the late Edward Burns of North Attleboro; Dennis Baril and his wife, JoAnn of Plainville. He was preceded in death by his daughter Joan Baril Chapron, formerly of Warwick RI. He leaves ten treasured grandchildren: Steve Burns and his wife, Lisa of North Attleboro; Edward Burns and his wife, Nancy of Attleboro; Sue Johnson and her husband, Jim of North Attleboro; Thomas Burns and his wife, Suzanne of Attleboro; Danielle Breton and her husband, Adam of North Attleboro; Luke Baril and his wife, Rebecca of Cumberland RI; Chris Chapron of Warwick RI; Marc Chapron of Warwick RI and Cindy Lamoureux and her husband, Timothy of Warwick RI. He was preceded in death by his grandson, the late Eric Chapron of Warwick RI. In addition, Gerry was blessed with twenty six great-grandchildren.
