Gerald R. Wheeler, age 49, of Brown Street, East Providence, died unexpectedly on Sunday, May 11, 2014, at Kent County Memorial Hospital.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Norman R. and Rose Z. (Paulhus) Wheeler, he lived in Providence and Warwick before moving to East Providence 4 years ago. He was a graduate of St. Dunstan’s School in Providence. Gerald was self-employed in the cleaning services business. He was formerly employed at A.T. Cross Co. in Lincoln.

He is survived by three sisters, Catherine M. Wheeler, with whom he lived, Roseanne Martineau and her husband Paul of Warwick, and Elizabeth A. “Betty” Ferreira and her husband Alfred “Butch” Ferreira of Warren; six brothers, Norman R. Wheeler, Jr. and his wife Maureen of Warwick, Joseph E. Wheeler and his wife Susan of Manchester, NH, Edward A. “Ted” Wheeler of North Smithfield, Timothy M. Wheeler of Lincoln, John C. Wheeler (NPFD, Ret.) and his wife Karen of North Smithfield, and Det. Sgt. Michael P. Wheeler (PPD) of West Warwick; twenty nieces and nephews, and fourteen grandnieces and grandnephews. He was the brother of the late James P. Wheeler, and a special nephew to Monica Dalton and Mary Chappron of Warwick.

His funeral will be held on Friday, May 16, at 8:45 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Peter Church, 350 Fair Street, Warwick. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
