Gerard J. Cote

Gerard J. Cote, 61, died June 26, 2013. Jerry was the beloved husband of Margaret R. “Maggie” Hayes-Cote.

Born in Providence, a son of Eileen R. (McGinn) Tramonti and the late Gerard Cote, he was resident of Warwick and summered in Snug Harbor since 2007. Jerry was a graduate of St. Kevin’s School in Warwick, Bishop Hendricken, Class of 1970 and URI with a Bachelors’ Degree in Physical Education, Class of 1974 and was a member of Phi Mu Delta fraternity. He developed lifelong friendships from his time in school. Jerry had many occupations in his life, which he fondly remembered including iron worker, roughneck on oil rigs and contractor. He was a former partner with Comott Builders for several years before working full-time as a shell fisherman on Narragansett Bay. While his boys were young, he was active in Continental Little League, helping to build its current clubhouse and assisting with coaching and cooking at the snack bar. An avid wordsmith, he enjoyed the Jumble and Words with Friends/Scrabble.

He was the devoted father of Matthew Gerard Cote and Russell Scott Cote; and brother of Stephen Cote (Cynthia), Maureen Mottola (Steven), Sharon Martineau and John Tramonti (Heather). He also leaves a large extended family and was blessed with many friends. He will be remembered with great love and many good memories by all who knew him.

His funeral will be held Monday at 8:30 a.m. from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Kevin Church, Sandy Lane. Burial will be private. Visiting hours Sunday 3-7 p.m.
