City officials were ready and waiting yesterday for Cardi Construction crews to close a section of Tidewater Drive and start removal of the Mill Creek Bridge that will be replaced over the next nine months. At left, David Picozzi, acting director of the Department of Public Works, Ward 5 Councilman Ed Ladouceur and Senator William Walaska were on site by 7:30 for the work to start. It wasn’t until later in the morning, however, that a crew showed up to erect detour signs. The bridge was slated to close by afternoon. Picozzi noted that morning traffic was minimal indicating, from his point of view, that notice of the bridge closing was out there and that area residents were already adjusting to the change.
