Bethashley Camera, a junior at the Warwick Area Career & Technical Center, is the winner of the second runner-up award in the Lindsay Ann Burke Memorial Fund’s 2012 Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Poster Contest for high school students. Bethashley entered the contest at the recommendation of her teacher, Jann Gartner. She was awarded a prize of $250. According to Ann Burke, president of LABMF, Bethashley’s poster will be hung in many Rhode Island schools, and is on the fund website, www.labmf.org. The Lindsay Ann Burke Memorial Fund was founded to honor the life of Lindsay Ann Burke. Lindsay, a former Saunderstown resident, was a compassionate, honest, trusting young woman who cared deeply for others. She was trying to break the cycle of domestic violence when she was murdered in 2005. The Lindsay Ann Burke Memorial Fund is a non-profit corporation that supports the prevention of relationship violence, primarily through the education of teens, parents, educators and the public.
