On Saturday, June 9, 160 parishioners from SS Rose and Clement parish, joined by others from throughout Rhode Island and New England – and as far away as Illinois – visited more than 1,400 homes to offer assistance and prayers to the parish’s neighbors. In all, some 200 people volunteered, including those praying throughout the day. The door-to-door event was the first of its kind at the parish, and follows similar events at St. Timothy’s in Warwick, St. Joseph’s in Woonsocket, Holy Ghost in Tiverton, Holy Name in Providence and St. Ann’s in Cranston. A similar Day of Evangelization is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 8 at Our Lady of Consolation Church, Holy Family Parish, Pawtucket. Event co-sponsors, the Legion of Mary, have been helping parishes with door-to-door visitation for close to a century.
