Timed to take advantage of yesterday’s moon low the tide, city Department of Public Works crews positioned five 43,000-pound interlinking concrete culvert units to create the new Sea View Drive Bridge in Oakland Beach. Replacement of the bridge was completed entirely by city crews and required blocking the drainage of a tidal pond, seen at right, while massive pumps drained the area so the units, built by United Concrete Products of Yalesville, CT, could be lowered into place.
