Gilbert C. “Babe” Andersen

Gilbert C. “Babe” Andersen, of Williamsburg Circle, Warwick, died unexpectedly on June 17, 2012 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of the late Evelyn L. (Hanson) Andersen.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Walter C. and Doris M. (Clark) Andersen, he was a life-long Warwick resident. He served with the Rhode Island Air National Guard and was a United States Coast Guard veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of William Shields Post # 43 American Legion.

Mr. Andersen was employed as a lineman with Narragansett Electric Co. for 38 years, retiring in 1993. He was a life member of the Tri-City Lodge of Elks, the Pawtuxet Athletic Club, and the Oakland Beach Volunteer Fire Co.

He is survived by his loving and devoted companion, Eileen (Duffy) Gallo of Warwick; a brother, Russell E. Andersen of Warwick; and a step-daughter, Susan R. Fletcher of Hollywood, CA. He was the brother of the late Walter C. Andersen, Jr. and the step-father of the late Gregory Diamond.

His funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 21, at 10 a.m. in the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Ave., Spring Green, Warwick. Burial with military honors will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
