Gilbert Vargas, 85, of Ryan Avenue, passed away May 16, 2012 at home. He was the beloved husband of Marguerite M. (Whittaker) Vargas.

Mr. Vargas was a retired store manager for Haxton’s Liquor.

Gilbert was the loving father of Gilbert R. Vargas, Steven T. Awde and Lori J. Rossi; grandfather of Steven, Michael, Samantha, Christopher and Steven; great-grandfather of Steven. He was the brother of Frank, Anthony and Manuel Vargas.

His funeral service will be held Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Ave. Burial with military honors will be in Rhode Island Veterans’ Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 p.m.
