Viansa Portesi knows how to go out on top.
The freshman tennis star out of Toll Gate earned girls’ tennis player of the year honors, but won’t be returning to defend her title. Portesi, who was Second Team All-State this season, will be taking her talents to La Salle next year.
Hopefully she can translate her greatest quality, according to Toll Gate girls’ tennis head coach Gary Gorman, into her future career as a Ram: consistency.
“She’s just a steady player,” Gorman said.
She played alongside fellow All-City members Arianna Rizzo and Caroline Waggoner. However, Portesi’s quick rise to the top among Warwick’s best tennis players sets her apart from the rest.
