The East Greenwich Animal Protection League will host their 16th Annual Hound Hike this Sunday at Goddard Park from noon to 3 p.m.
The yearly event is EGAPL’s biggest fundraiser, and all proceeds go toward the shelter, food and medical care of area homeless animals awaiting adoption.
To join the Hound Hike, go through the main park entrance to the carousel and beach area. Registration begins at noon, and the fee per hiker is $20. The 2-mile walk starts at 1 p.m., rain or shine.
Walkers are encouraged to bring their dogs, walk the beautiful trails together and gather samples of pet-related treats and information offered by participating dog food and pet product companies. All dogs must be leashed.
Walkers will also enjoy music, raffles and a free lunch.
Anyone who raises $50 receives a collectable 2012 Hound Hike T-shirt. The first 150 registrants receive a bag of goodies for themselves and their pet.

EGAPL is an all-volunteer, no-kill shelter. EGAPL Adopt-a-Pet open house is held every Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
