Greenwood Rehab Center to receive national quality award

Greenwood Care and Rehabilitation Center, located at 1139 Main Avenue, was selected as one of only 399 skilled nursing centers across the nation to receive the Bronze National Quality Award from the American Health Care Association and the National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL). This award is based on the demonstration of the nursing center’s strong commitment to continuous quality improvement. The award will be presented to Greenwood Care and Rehab during AHCA/NCAL’s 63rd Annual Convention and Exposition, Oct. 7-10 in Tampa, Fla.

The award is one of three distinctions possible through the National Quality Award program, presented by AHCA/NCAL. The three levels include Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Facilities begin the quality improvement process at the Bronze level, where they develop an organizational profile with essential performance elements such as vision and mission statements and an assessment of customers’ expectations. As a Bronze recipient, Greenwood Care and Rehab Center demonstrated its commitment to a customer-focused mission by defining its principal customers and their expectations and indicating ways that it continually strives to meet their needs. A team of trained examiners reviews each Bronze application to determine if the nursing center has met the demands of the criteria. As a recipient of the Bronze - Commitment to Quality award, Greenwood Care and Rehab may now move forward in developing approaches and achieving performance levels that meet the criteria required for the Silver - Achievement in Quality award.

“This is an honor for us and one that I feel is well-deserved. I see firsthand, on a daily basis, the hard work that each member of our caring team offers to our residents. This award is a testament to their commitment and dedication,” said Michael Lopes, administrator.

Greenwood is one of 21 nursing centers operated by SunBridge Healthcare – the same company that operated the now closed Pawtuxet Village Care and Rehabilitation Center – to receive AHCA’s prestigious recognition for 2012.

Greenwood Care and Rehabilitation Center provides short-term rehabilitation therapy services as well as long-term skilled care for up to 130 residents and patients. It has served the community of Warwick for 48 years since first opening its doors in 1964. SunBridge and its affiliates together operate long-term and post-acute care centers in many states.

I wouldn't put a dog in this place....have been a patient for rehab, never got any rehab. I could go on and on....I have never seen such unprofessional staff in my life at all levels, but particularly direct patient care staff, nursing and CNA's.
