Gregory A. Soder, 69, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Lahey Hospital in Burlington, MA. He was the loving husband of Susan E. (Bowes) Soder of West Kingston, RI.

Born in Providence, RI; he was the son of the late Arthur and Doris R. (Shrader) Soder. Gregory's career as Assistant Director of Natural Resources for the Narragansett Tribe allowed him to use his skills to get federally funded grants to help the tribe get the most out of their land. He built many close relationships within the Narragansett Tribe and many of the young adults considered him to be a father figure. He was a compassionate, strong minded, selfless, loving person who would do anything for someone in need. He loved all of his family, but he had a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews. Gregory enjoyed anything outdoors, especially fishing. He was an active member with the Native American Fish and Wildlife Society. Gregory was also a member of the former Southern New England Antique Dealers Association.

Besides his wife, Susan, he is survived by his brother Philip Soder and his wife, Carolann of Warwick, RI; nieces and nephews: Russell Soder, Kerrilyn McCarthy, Renee Fallon, Kurtis Fallon, Erin Vatcher, Emily Colwell and Teddy, Tommy, Matthew and Michelle Bowes.

His funeral service will take place at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick, RI 02893 on Monday, August 15 at 11 a.m. followed with internment in Pawtuxet Memorial Park Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 3-6 p.m.
