Greta Ann (Erickson) Graves

Greta Ann (Erickson) Graves enjoyed 86 years of love and adventure before peacefully passing away at Avalon Nursing Home in Warwick, Rhode Island.

Born December 20, 1928, she was the daughter of Agda Allen and Harold Erickson. While Greta had a zest for travel, she called the Ocean State home her whole life. Some of her favorite memories were traveling the world with her husband of more than 60 years, Elmer L Graves, Jr. They met while working together during the holiday rush at Salk’s Hardware store.

Greta’s kindness resonated with the lives that she touched. She was not only a loving mother of three children but also a community servant for most of her life. She was a dedicated member of the Warwick Grange and Woodbury Union Church. She volunteered at a variety of community-oriented projects. On the lighter side, she enjoyed a winning Red Sox game and listening to the birds in the great outdoors. Greta will be remembered by her family for her many artistic talents, athletic aptitude and green thumb.

She is survived by two daughters, Christine A. Satterwhite and Deborah G. Graves-Stone, both of Pocatello, Idaho, a son, Leonard P. Graves of Charleston, South Carolina; sisters Beth Todd and Melodee Suarez both of Tampa, Florida; four grandchildren, Dana Graves, Nicole Graves, Taylor Graves, and Mackenzie Stone; and great-grandson Owen Atwood.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a committal service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter. Please gather just inside the cemetery entrance at 10:45 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Memorial Fund of Woodbury Union Church, Presbyterian. www.barrettandcotter.com
