A ground-breaking ceremony will be held on Saturday morning as volunteers renovate the basketball court at 830 Oakland Beach Avenue. The court will be redone and renamed in honor of George Schmeider, the late Warwick Vets wrestling coach.
Several dignitaries will be on hand, along with representatives from Cardi Corporation and Gary Perry Paving, which are donating time and equipment to make the renovation possible.
Construction starts at 7 a.m., but the project will be an all-day event, with T-Shirts given out and plenty of food on the grill. The public is invited to attend.
