Guitarist Ray Kamalay will give a concert and lecture on the roots of American music at the Warwick Public Library on this Sunday at 2 p.m.
Kamalay will talk about how spirituals became ragtime, jazz, gospel, the blues, and more, and discover how the musical innovations of American slaves continue in the songs we listen to today.
Kamalay has performed at the Edinburgh Festival, the Winnipeg Folk Festival, and the Philadelphia Folk Festival and is a member of the Red Hot Peppers jazz combo.
