Harry Raymond Keefe, 81, of Lompoc, California, passed away quietly in his home, after a long illness on Wednesday, December 31 2014.

Harry was born October 1st, 1933 in Providence, Rhode Island, the son of Harry Raymond Keefe and Mary Louise Rawlinson. He started his adventure in Cranston, Rhode Island, where he attended LaSalle Academy. He joined the USMC Reserves while at LaSalle and was called to duty while still at LaSalle. When he returned from his service with the United States Marine Corp he attended the University of Rhode Island and graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 1957. In that same year he acquired a position with Johns Manville Corporation and spent his entire career with the company until he retired in 1991.

Harry was an avid golfer and shared his passion for golf with his family and friends. He loved to sing and dance with his favorite partner, Joan, and often created “Harry” versions of popular songs that he shared with his children and grandchildren.

He was married to Joan Hazel McKeever in 1955, they had seven children: Harry (Kandy Claybaugh), Colleen (James Armington), Joseph (Claudia Russo), Shane (Mary Helen Sandlin), Kyle, Moira (Timothy Philley) and Erin (Michael Feinner). There are twelve grandchildren: James, Kyle, Ryan, Natalie, Magdalena, Jeffrey, Liam, Alana, Gavin, Nicholas, Hannah and Ciara; and seven great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Dorothy, William, Mary Louise and Thomas.

The Evening vigil will be Monday, January 5, 2015, at 6 p.m. in the chapel of the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. Reverend Lawrence Santos will celebrate the mass of Christian burial on Tuesday, January 6, at 10 a.m. at Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Lompoc. The inurnment will take place at a later date at the St. Joseph’s cemetery in West Warwick, Rhode Island.
