Hawks sweep quad, win Capital City title

Bishop Hendricken cruised past Coventry and Johnston, and added a non-league victory over Toll Gate, in a quad meet at Johnston High School last Thursday. The Hawks then hit the road for Concord, N.H., over the weekend and captured the title at the Capital City Wrestling Classic.

The victories over Coventry and Johnston ran Hendricken’s record to 11-0 and continued its dominance over league opponents. The Hawks beat Coventry 72-3 and Johnston 67-12. They’ve now out-scored opponents 721-113.

Against Coventry, the Hawks got 11 pins from Jon Celico, Nick Celico, Jason Davol, Jon Arruda, Anthony DiMauro, Steven Johnson, Lewis Stewart, Hunter Boesch, Nick Martino, Pierre-Louis Arcand and Dallas Sauer. Jamie Swanson and Matt Jacobsen won by decision. Coventry got its only victory from Dylan Dupre at 170.

Johnston had a little more success, getting pins from Jon Soto at 126 and Tim Tedesco at 138, but the Hawks won every other match, seven of them by pin. Jon Celico, Davol, DiMauro, Stewart, James Sauro, Boesch, Arcand and Sauer had the pins. Nick Celico and Johnson won by decision.

In New Hampshire, the Hawks medaled in 13 of 14 weight classes en route to 277 points. Concord, N.H., finished second with 202 points.

Jon Celico won the title at 106, Davol took first at 120, Stewart won at 160 and Boesch took first at 182. Second-place finishers were Nick Celico, Arruda and DiMauro. Jacobsen, Sauro, Martino and Sauer took third in their weight classes, while Johnson and Arcand took fifth.
