Bishop Hendricken got the best of La Salle at the state cross country championship, but the Rams got a measure of revenge on Saturday when they captured the New England championship in Manchester, N.H. Hendricken, which was seeking its third consecutive New England crown, finished third overall. The title is the first for the Rams since 1958.

Hendricken senior Colin Tierney, the Rhode Island state champ, finished fifth overall as the top Rhode Islander, crossing the line in 15:17.1. Jack Salisbury’s seventh-place finish and D.J. Principe’s ninth led the way for the Rams.

For the Hawks, Michael Potter finished 20th as the fourth Rhode Islander, Tom Grizzetti finished 27th, Avery Ingegneri finished 69th, Collin Manning took 72nd, Dominic Parlato took 90th and Grant Gauthier finished 168th.

La Salle totaled 99 points to grab first. Ridgefield, Conn., was second with 102 and Hendricken finished with 128.

New Hampshire’s Coe-Brown Academy won the girls’ crown, ahead of second-place Barrington and third-place La Salle. Barrington’s Emma McMillan, the two-time Rhode Island state champ, finished sixth overall.
