Healthtrax used shoe drive to curb adolescent obesity

Posted

Healthtrax Fitness Center, 2191 Post Road, is playing a role in keeping usable shoes out of landfills, providing employment for adults with disabilities and promoting sustainable development in Africa through its collaboration with ReRun Shoes.

In April the shoe drive is supporting research into curbing adolescent obesity. For every pair of running shoes/sneakers received during this effort Rerun Shoes is donating 50 cents to this cause at the Friedman School of Nutrition at Tufts University.

“When spring cleaning, remember to bring your gently worn sneakers, cleats and shoes to Healthtrax. Please share this initiative with your family, co-workers and friends to help fill the boxes at Healthtrax. Drop off shoes and stay for a workout as our guest,” says Chuck Henley, vice president of operations at Healthtrax Fitness & Wellness.
