Helen E. (Andrews) Conklin, age 98, of Warwick, died on June 29, 2014, at South County Hospital in Wakefield. She was the wife of the late William A. Conklin.

Born in Holliston, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Joseph S. and Ethel G. (Nottage) Andrews, she lived in Warwick since 1953.

Mrs. Conklin was a member of Sincerity/Ada Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, and was a founding organizer of the Warwick Assembly of Rainbow. She was the “Poster Child” for peritoneal dialysis at Fresenius Medical Care on Post Road in Warwick, and a “Special Lady” of Harmony Masonic Lodge. Helen was an Asbury “Coasters” member for many years and a member of Woodbury Union Church, Presbyterian.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter, David A. Conklin and his wife, Candace of Papillion, Nebraska, Norma L. Hopkins and her husband, Richard “Tim” Hopkins of North Kingstown, and W. Scott Conklin of Cranston; five grandchildren; seven great-grandsons; and her dear cat Sassy.

Helen will be missed by many and should be remembered for her independence, courage, intelligence and optimism. She always tried to see the best in people and cherished her family and friends.

The family wishes to extend special thanks for Mom’s “family” at Fresenius in Warwick for their loving care and support and for making her feel special. Many thanks to the Rose Street staff at South County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in North Kingstown, RI, for their care, understanding and kindness.

Her funeral service was held on Thursday, July 3, in the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick. Burial will be private.
