Helen E. (Young) Cournoyer, age 72, formerly of Errol Street, Warwick, died on March 15, 2014, at West Shore Health Center in Warwick. She was the wife of the late Normand R. Cournoyer.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Gilbert C. and Elizabeth (Scott) Young, she lived in Warwick since 1978. Mrs. Cournoyer was a mailroom supervisor at Gorham Manufacturing in Providence for 27 years before retiring in 1984. She was a member of the Maurice Pion Chapter # 17 DAV Auxiliary in West Warwick, and a Past Department Commander and Past Chapter Commander. She was a friend of Bill W.

She is survived by a sister, Shirley Matteson of Huntsville, Alabama; and several nieces, nephews; and cousins.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, March 21, at 9 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a service at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Transfiguration, 1665 Broad Street, Cranston.
