Helping fight rare disease

The food was plentiful and so was the music Saturday at Balise as friends and customers turned out to raise funds for the Cooley’s Anemia Foundation. The foundation, which is raising funds to combat the rare blood disease, is a leading charity of the Sons of Italy. Pulling together to make the event possible were eight Italian restaurants that donated food for the occasion. Balise not only assisted by providing the location and spearheading the event, but also with a $3,000 donation. Here Balise General Manager Bill Camastro presents a symbolic check to Esther Cambio, president of the local chapter of the foundation. (Warwick Beacon photo)
