Hendricken track improves to 8-0 with wins over ’Canes, Kilties

The Bishop Hendricken outdoor track team is cruising through its dual meet schedule.

The Hawks are now 8-0 after lopsided victories over Warwick Vets and Mount Pleasant at Hendricken on Monday afternoon.

Hendricken defeated Mount Pleasant, 136-18, before beating the ’Canes, 137-17.

With the two wins, Hendricken now has the best record throughout the four divisions.

Of the 18 events, Hendricken took 13 of them. It got wins from Chris Storti in the shot put, Shane Olson in the javelin throw, John Celico in the pole vault, Nick Stravato in the long jump, Ethan Famiano in the 110-meter high hurdles, Kwity Paye in the 100-meter dash, Jared Boulanger in the 1500, Robert Merlino in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, Michael Kiernan in the 800, Kwity Paye in the 200 and Avery Ingegneri in the 3000, while the Hawks’ 4x100 and 4x400 relays also posted the top times for the meet.

Hendricken’s 4x100 relay consisted of Ethan Pezzullo, Bailey Whittaker, Brandon Arpin and Devin Rivet, while the 4x400 consisted of Kurt Rousseau, Joey D’Antonio, Patrick Hagerty and Boulanger.

Vets’ Levi Martin posted the top height in the high jump and the best distance in the triple jump.

Next up on the Hawks’ schedule is the Brian Moretti Falcon Invitational this Saturday at 12 p.m. at Cranston West.

As of right now, there are 37 schools that are set to participate in the Invitational.
