Henry A. Duhaime Jr.
Henry A. "Bud" Duhaime Jr., 71, of Highland St., passed away January 14, 2012 at Kent Hospital.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Henry A. and Jennie (Petrella) Duhaime Sr. Bud graduated from St. Joseph Elementary School, attended LaSalle Academy for three years and graduated from West Warwick High School. He earned an associate's degree from Boston University. He belonged to the Explorers, Post 3 Boy Scouts, where he received the Ad Altare Dei medal from the late Most Rev. Russell J. McVinney, D.D. He served in the Army during Vietnam.
Bud, an insurance broker for 25 years, owned the former Duhaime Insurance Agency. He later was employed as minimum housing officer for the Town of West Warwick for 20 years before retiring.
He was an active member of the Democratic Party. Bud served as Chairman of Senate District 20. In 1974 Bud was a key person in the successful election of former Congressman Edward Beard. He was current Chairman of the West Warwick Board of Canvassers. He was a director with the March of Dimes for 10 years. Bud was a member of the West Warwick Historical Cemetery Commission, past president of the Phenix Sportsmen's Club, Post 2 American Legion and Club Frontenac. Bud, an avid coin collector, belonged to the American Numismatic Society and the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association.
He is survived by a sister, Jeanette P. Lefebvre of Concord, Mass., six nieces, three nephews and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
His funeral will be held Jan. 18 at 10 a.m. from R.A. Iannotti Funeral Home, 415 Washington St., Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in SS Peter & Paul Church. Interment with military honors will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Warwick. Visiting hours are Jan. 17 from 4-7 p.m.
