Her passion became her business

Devin Penney, founder of Arriving in Style, enthralled fashion merchandizing students at the Warwick Area Career and Vocational Technical Center Friday morning how she transformed her view of fashion as an art form and desire to help others into a consulting business that has her traveling throughout New England and to the Chicago area. As expressed on her website, “My goal is to allow others to experience fashion in a simple, easy and enjoyable way, to gain appreciation for the industry and to leave behind all frustrations and fashion faux pas.” Her story resonated with students. Katricia Santana said, “How cool. You’re a year older than me and you’re running your own business.” Penney said it isn’t always glamorous, but she imagines the day – maybe in another 10 years – when the company has grown and “I can spend 100 percent of my time doing what I want to be doing.” (Warwick Beacon photos)
