Dr. Martin Kerzer, Dr. Gregory Steinmetz and Julie Rousseau, FNPC, have announced the addition of Desirae Heys, FNPC, and Sara Brown, FNPC, to their health care team at Associates in Primary Care Medicine, Inc., 857 Post Rd., Warwick.

Heys has experience as a Registered Nurse in pediatrics, geriatrics, community nursing and undergraduate nursing education. She is also an adjunct nursing instructor at the University of Rhode Island. Her clinical interests are focused on outpatient primary care across the lifespan, asthma, education, patient simulated nursing education, and incorporating technology into the health care setting. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society, Nurse Practitioner Alliance of RI, and Association of Asthma Educators.

Brown has been a family nurse practitioner since 2004, working in community health for almost nine years in Cranston, providing selfless care for many members of the Southeast Asian and Latino community. Brown’s education began with a bachelor’s degree in Physics from upstate New York, which was then followed by a second undergraduate and graduate degree in Nursing from the University of Rhode Island. She is a past volunteer at the Rhode Island Free Clinic and in 2012 was a panelist at the Southeast Asian National Leadership Conference. As a comprehensive medical provider, Brown strives to assess the total well-being of her patients and can often quickly ascertain and recommend small lifestyle changes that can improve patients’ well-being. She also speaks Cambodian.
